Standard Life Annuity Claim

Standard Life has set aside £175 million for mis-selling pension annuities after a probe by the Financial Conduct Authority. The city watchdog have found that many large companies such as Standard Life had sold annuities - which provide an income for life - to 90,000 people in poor health without telling them they should shop around for a better deal.

This particualar review looked at whether non-advised customers had missed out on a better annuity, where they could be paid a higher income because they have a health condition, due to providers’ sales policies.

if you bought a standard life annuity and were not aware that you were not tied in to buying their product or that you could shop around, then you may be entitled to compensation. Standard Life has set aside £175 million and you could be entitled to a share. Contact your financial adviser, the FCA or standard life for more information.

Not all claims against the big banks and financial services organisations are for PPI. Mis-selling of annuities is another area where many people have a valid claim which they can pursue.

Make sure you keep a copy of everything you send to the bank or other annuity provider and it's always best to send it by registered post.
